Google Snubs Tech News Outlet CNET
Google Inc. is refusing to speak with reporters at CNET's online news site after it ran a story that used Google's chief executive to illustrate how easily the company's search engine finds personal information.

Google told News.com, the online tech news service of CNET Networks Inc., last week that it would not speak to any of its reporters for a year, according to News.com's editor.

Google was angered by a story last month that focused on potential threats the search engine leader's product poses to personal privacy, said Jai Singh, the News.com editor-in-chief.

Yahoo Launches Self-Service Tools For Publishing Ads
Yahoo Inc. on Wednesday launched in beta a service that enables small and medium-sized web sites to publish text-based ads and share in the revenue from Yahoo advertisers.

The service, which is only available during the testing phase by invitation, is meant to broaden the reach Yahoo can provide to its advertisers, Willan Johnson, general manager of Yahoo Publisher Network, said.

Increase Productivity! With ClipBoard Extender
Increase your business productivity.

You can view, print, edit, reformat, convert to upper/lower case, search, rename, and reorder clip items. There is even a built-in spellchecker. You can create an unlimited number of collections to store your data, and you have full control over the retention rules so that your collections will fit your own work process.

Marketing Efforts to Consider
In order to create consistent sales cycles and a positive growth trend businesses usually engage in both short and long term marketing efforts.

Short-term marketing efforts tend to cause sudden sales spikes which rarely last. These sharp sales increases are usually the result of a targeted marketing campaign or time limited offer. While short-term marketing produces sales, long-term marketing efforts must be mixed in to sustain sales.

Rumors About Google Banning Directories
There were some rumors in the Webmaster World Forum that Google is changing the way it looks at directories like Web Search Engines . It appears Google may be penalizing the mini-directories. While they are attempting to stop search engine spamming I think they are clearly missing the boat in seeing the value of these niche portals. These sites make it very easy to find topic specific information in a single location and while they may all be rooted at DMOZ, they are significantly easier to navigate. Take a look at Monitoring Tools or Investing Partners to get a better idea how these sites are useful to members of their industry or consumers.

Google Scholar Is Launched
Google has launched a beta version of Google Scholar

What is Google Scholar?
Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.

How does Google Scholar work?
Just as with Google Web Search, Google Scholar orders your search results by how relevant they are to your query, so the most useful references should appear at the top of the page. This relevance ranking takes into account the full text of each article as well as the article’s author, the publication in which the article appeared and how often it has been cited in scholarly literature. Google Scholar also automatically analyzes and extracts citations and presents them as separate results, even if the documents they refer to are not online. This means your search results may include citations of older works and seminal articles that appear only in books or other off line publications.

Comprehensive Article How *Not* To Write A Business Plan
PlanWare Business Plan Tip: How NOT to Write a Business Plan
Here are some suggestions to follow if you want to write a truly dreadful business plan, or to avoid if you wish to write a sound business plan:

- Don't include a contents list, don't number any pages and don't follow any consistent approach for section heading etc.
- Do write the plan's summary before you write the plan, or, better still, don't include any summary.
- Do start the plan with a series of tables showing your projections - the more detail and tables the better.
- Don't summarize the projections - let the reader figure out the full year totals and so on.
- If you include projected balance sheets, make sure that they don't balance.
- Don't produce any separate cash flow forecasts, just rename the P&L or income projections.

The yearly survey, which is conducted by the Computer Security Institute (CSI) in coordination with the FBI, found that the average dollar amount pegged to a security breach fell by a whopping 61 percent compared to 2004, when the loss per polled company or government agency was estimated at $526,000. In 2005, the amount per respondent was only $203,000.

Steady As She Goes For Small Business IT Spending
Small businesses remain optimistic about the near-term outlook for the economy, and this is translating into solid expectations for IT spending over the next few months.
Small-business owners’ expectations for the economy bumped up in May compared with April, according to the Small Business Optimism Index. Expectations are slightly lower than they were a year ago, but on average, small-business owners expect GDP growth over the next year to be in the 3.5 percent range, about where it is now and above the long-term trend growth rate of 3.0 percent. The Small Business Optimism Index is published monthly by the National Federation of Independent Business, a 600,000-member small-business advocacy group based in Washington.

Blogging is growing so fast it's hard to get a handle on the numbers. Recently, BusinessWeek estimated that there were nearly 9 million blogs out there, a number that is growing at the rate of a whopping 40,000 per day. Of course, the majority of these are personal, not business-related, but blogging is beginning to catch on in businesses large and small as well. A survey of small business owners by HP earlier this year found that 10 percent have included blogs as part of their marketing plans, with an additional 16 percent planning to invest in blogs over the next three years. Being Watched
Really, really interesting article by InternetWeek about how technology and privacy are on a collision course.

Lots of readers had opinions on Microsoft and Google licensing satellite pictures of Earth and using them as part of their local-search services. Both currently provide pictures that show buildings and streets, but no ground-level detail. However, Orbimage, which is supplying pictures to Microsoft, says it plans to offer high-resolution pictures in 2007 that would let you count the manholes in Manhattan.

With that kind of detail, and the expectation that many other Internet companies would start using satellite-generated pictures, the idea of having all those cameras pointed at us made me feel uneasy. Some readers agreed, while others didn't think it was a big deal. A few, however, were even more paranoid.

Google Indexing Subscription Content
Google is testing a premium service that will open up mainstream access to the "Deep Web," allowing webmasters with restricted or subscription content to let in Google and provide the masses with free previews.

The service is being tested server-side with a small number of sites that are under strict confidentiality agreements. Premium content will be indexed and tagged as paid, and will be displayed in a special content area on the right side of Google's search results underneath the AdSense advertising links.

Some paid articles are "first click free" and will appear within Google's "natural" aggregated search results - if the participating publication decides that the content should be accessible when Google is the referrer.

Skype in merger talks with Yahoo?
Engadget is reporting that an aquisition might be in Skype's future.

Skype and Yahoo are in "close contact," as in, snuggly enough to talk about a possible buyout. It makes sense from the standpoint that Yahoo already wants to add voice to their Yahoo! Messenger platform, and Skype would be an attractive acquisition in terms of merging IM with VoIP. The concern, though, is that it would complicate Yahoo's relationship with the Baby Bells as it tries to build its media empire status. In any case, though, it does look like both parties are interested in cooking up some sort of commercial partnership. Ain't courtship grand?

Most Wikis are open, and allow any user the ability to edit the contents of a Wiki web page. While some say this opens the concept to abuse, Wiki moderators and self-policing in the Wiki sector appear to be taking hold. Small Business Security
There is an excellent article about small business security on the small business pipeline that all businesses should read:

By the time small businesses start worrying about security, it's too late. We ignore risk until threatened by an attack or natural disaster. If we're lucky, the threat passes us by, and we fall back into denial. If we're unlucky, disaster hits, and it puts us out of business.
Denial about security is self-defeating because the cost of loss is devastating. That's especially true of small businesses, where profit margins are often razor-thin.

I've had personal experience working in, and near, companies that learned those lessons the hard way. The lucky companies only lost information of financial value. In one instance, a security breach resulted in seven dead.

Developing Content Sites Article
Highly targeted, focused sites that are related to specific market segments are highly advantageous and can often be created using existing web content. The key is to provide value.

Think of the time spent surfing the web gathering resources and information. By creating a topic-centric resource compiling information, webmasters are providing a service or value. In many cases that value is simply the compilation of topic-specific information in a single resource. The compilation of this information in itself is the value.

American Small Business League’s Advocacy Leads to Changes in Federal Small Business Contracting Procedures
The American Small Business League welcomed a recent set of changes in Federal small business contracting procedures as long overdue, but warned that significant problems remain.

The ASBL – the only national organization defending the interests of small businesses in the Federal government’s $60-plus billion small business contracting program – has advocated for these and other changes since 2002. The Small Business Act of 1953 directs that at least 23 percent of federal government prime contracts go to small business. But a host of abuses and loopholes allow large companies to get many of these contracts. The Defense Department alone awarded more than $47 billion in “small business” contracts to huge corporations between 1998 and 2003, according to a 2004 report by the Center for Public Integrity.

The new changes attempt to close one of the many loopholes that allow this to happen. On April 22, the Small Business Administration and several Federal agencies announced they have revamped the small business designation process in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. Federal agencies rely on the CCR database to determine whether a contractor qualifies as a small business.

The Power and Value of Topical Search Engines
While many marketers are scrambling for links, any links, an area that is often overlooked is topic-specific search engines. What many don't realize is that these engines do produce traffic, and they often contain traffic that is very targeted. Anyone who has taken the time to analyze weblogs and track sales sources will likely see that targeted traffic converts at a significantly higher rate than non-targeted traffic.

A savvy online marketer realizes that often, the quality of the visitor is far more important than the quantity of visitors. Web marketers should focus their energies on attracting targeted traffic whenever possible.

For example, if you sell saddles, advertising on a site related to horses or advertising on a topical search engine like http://www.horse-stall.net will bring significantly more sales than advertising on a generic web site or search engine.

ENTERWeb, the Popular Knowledge Portal for Small Business (Enterweb.org) has Just Opened a Section on Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility
As recently as a decade ago, many companies viewed business ethics only in terms of administrative compliance with legal standards and adherence to internal rules and regulations. Like never before, corporations are being asked, encouraged and prodded to improve their business practices to emphasize legal and ethical behavior. Companies, professional firms and individuals alike are being held increasingly accountable for their actions, as demand grows for higher standards of corporate social responsibility.

Reflecting this new reality, ENTERWeb  has just opened a new section on business ethics and corporate social responsibility, which will provide you with everything you need to know on the subject (and more).

Judge Sentences Spammer to Nine Years
A Virginia judge sentenced a spammer to nine years in prison Friday in the nation's first felony prosecution for sending junk e-mail, though the sentence was postponed while the case is appealed.

Loudoun County Circuit Judge Thomas Horne said that because the law targeting bulk e-mail distribution is new and raises constitutional questions, it was appropriate to defer the prison time until appeals courts rule.

A jury had recommended the nine-year prison term after convicting Jeremy Jaynes of pumping out at least 10 million e-mails a day with the help of 16 high-speed lines, the kind of Internet capacity a 1,000-employee company would need.

Google AdSense Changes to Reporting
Google's AdSense has improved channels functionality: better tools to help you optimize

Tuesday Google has introduced 3 updates to channel tracking, to make this feature even more useful:

Channel reports in real-time: Until now, channel data was delayed 2 days before appearing in your reports. We've upgraded our system to provide real-time reporting, allowing you to quickly react to changes in your ad performance on a page-by-page basis.
Remove channels: Your channels UI has been cleaned up, by introducing a 'Remove Channel' option that allows you to remove channels from your active and inactive lists.
"Shift-select" for channels: When selecting channels from the Reports page selection box, use SHIFT+click to select multiple channels at once.
More information about URL and custom channels is available from the support center.
Improved reporting: ad unit impressions vs. page impressions

We've added new options to your reporting page, allowing you to select from page impressions or ad unit impressions when generating your performance reports. Not sure what this means? Check out the AdSense Support center for an explanation of page impressions versus ad unit impressions.

In addition, your browser will now remember your prior report settings each time you select a report. If you have a favorite report that you run often, you're going to love this feature!

Making Better Cash Flow Forecasts
A key element of controlling cash is to forecast cash flows and requirements. This entails forecasting and tabulating all significant cash inflows relating to sales, new loans, interest received etc. and then analyzing in detail the timing of expected payments relating to suppliers, wages, other expenses, capital expenditure, loan repayments, dividends, tax, interest payments etc.

The difference between the cash in- and out-flows within a given period indicates the net cash flow. When this net cash flow is added to or subtracted from opening bank balances, any likely short-term bank funding requirements can be ascertained.

Interesting article on Search Engine Optimization
The article is interesting, I don't agree 100% with the sentiment expressed but its a view worth considering.

"Greg Boser manipulates search engines for a living, and there's little the Googles of the world can do about it."

"Boser, who owns and operates WebGuerrilla, a web marketing outfit based in Valencia, California, is not alone. An entire industry of search engine optimizers, called SEOs, has sprung up, many of which take advantage of loopholes in the way rankings are calculated."

The best line is at the very end of the article -

"Finally, there is "search spam," which are machine-generated pages designed to appear in the engines to attract traffic (and ultimately increase revenue)."

But Boser defines search spam another way: "It's any site that ranks above mine."

Innovative Business Use of RSS as a Technology
RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a new way to broadcast corporate news and structured information. RSS offers a quick, easy corporate communication channel. The RSS contents are published as a feed and the feed's content keep customers, partners and journalists abreast of corporate news and information. The RSS feeds are read using a tool referred to as a news aggregator, or an RSS reader. The aggregator periodically checks to see if the RSS feed has been updated. As the feed is updated, new information will automatically appear in the RSS reader.

While RSS was at one point only considered to be a means to deliver news headlines, RSS has quickly become a powerful medium to disseminate all kinds of information. As traditional marketers are attempting to rein in content delivery, measuring e-mail open rates, click-throughs and conversions, Internet users are fighting to gain control over the content they receive. Savvy marketers and business owners are using RSS as a way to improve corporate communication and increase their external exposure and brand appeal.

US Domain Owners Lose Privacy
The U.S. Commerce Department has ordered companies that administer internet addresses to stop allowing customers to register .us domain names anonymously using proxy services.

The move does not affect owners of .com and .net domains. But it means website owners with .us domains will no longer be able to shield their name and contact information from public eyes.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center said the move violates First Amendment rights to anonymous free speech. And the representative of one of the largest domain-registration companies is concerned that customers who have been victims of stalkers won't be able to protect their privacy without changing their web address to a domain that offers anonymity.

Google Desktop Search locates e-mail, AOL chat sessions and previously viewed Web pages. It also searches various file types, from PDFs and Microsoft Word files to audio, video and photo files.

Office workers and other computer users previously had few effective tools for finding documents and e-mail buried on their personal computers. Search companies and others have jumped in to fill that void with the hope of replicating the success Web search has enjoyed.

Podcasting is Not Just for Music
Although podcasting is new, it is well on its way to becoming a mainstream communication medium. Podcasting, simply put, is audio files that are delivered via RSS. Many people believe that podcasting is solely for the distribution of music files, but really, nothing could be further from the truth. This emerging method of audio file distribution has opened an array of marketing and communication opportunities to businesses. Currently, most who are familiar with podcasting are technically savvy, but it is clear that podcasting will be more than a passing fad as many businesses are adopting podcasting and employing it in unusual yet powerful ways. Podcasting can be used for talk shows, tutorials, music demos, educational training, stories, comedy clips, debates or even foreign language tutorials.

Legalities on the Web
Copyright protection for a web site is just as enforceable as it is for traditional media. U.S. copyright law states that electronic files—including web files—are copyrighted the moment they're put into a tangible form, even if they're not on display to the general public. Protected web files may include the site's content, code, scripting, graphic images, sound and video files.

"One way to determine if your site's content has been stolen is to use the search engines," said Matt Naeger, Vice President and General Counsel at IMPAQT. "The primary way is to see your copy in the search results. Copy-paste an extended piece of text from your web site and see what other web sites show up for that same text. Typically two sites shouldn't legitimately show up for the exact same web copy. I would say I have seen higher rates of recidivism, if you can show publication through the search engine."

RSS: News You Choose
Publishers and webmasters provide content and news in an RSS feed. Users view the content of interest in an RSS reader or news aggregator. The aggregator or reader contains the collection of feeds that are of interest to the user. As the RSS feed is updated the content in the reader or aggregator updates with the new information. At any point, users can remove a feed from their aggregator or reader and no longer receive information from that source. Ultimately, the user is choosing the news and content they wish to view.

As RSS has increased in popularity more and more webmasters and publishers have adopted RSS as an alternative communication stream. Webmasters use an RSS graphic to indicate the content is available via RSS.

Internet Fraud Threatens Economy
Internet fraudsters, motivated by money and armed with sophisticated technology, pose an increased economic threat as they steal private data from companies and individuals, the director of the U.S. Secret Service said Thursday.
"There is no longer any doubt about that threat ... With just a few key strokes, (online fraudsters) can disrupt our nation's economy," said Ralph Basham at the RSA Security Conference in San Francisco.

In addition to protecting the U.S. president, the Secret Service also helps to protect U.S. financial institutions.

Security analysts have warned that Internet hackers, once motivated by the thrill of shutting down computer systems, are joining forces with organized crime groups as they seek to profit from hacking into databases and stealing personal data through a variety of tactics, like phishing.

39% Of Small-Business Owners Plan To Expand Through Use of Technology
Owners of smaller companies are less worried about the economy than they were a year ago, a new survey finds. Right now, about 31% of business owners say the economy is their biggest concern, according to a study commissioned by small-business software maker Intuit Inc. That's down from 36% last year.
Intuit hired independent market-research firm Decipher to gauge the optimism of that sector of the economy and to find out how companies will fuel their growth.

A bit more than one-third of business owners surveyed say they are, indeed, fixing to expand their company. And more say they'll do it through productivity-boosting business technology than by hiring more people.

Fully 39% say they'll grow by buying new software and hardware, 27% are depending on marketing initiatives, and only 11% will expand their payroll.

The base of respondents comprised 755 owners of companies with fewer than 250 workers that had been open at least two years.

Google is giving more weight to latent semantic indexing
Latent semantic indexing helps search engines to find out what a web page is all about. It basically means to you that you shouldn't focus on a single keyword when optimizing your web pages and when getting links.

The web pages on your web site should be related and focus mainly on a special topic while using different words that describe the topic. Use variations of your keyword and synonyms. That makes it easier for search engines to determine the topic of your site.

Description - the description appears to influence some results
Incoming Links - while not as obvious as many of those above it appears that incoming links may play a factor in ranking

In the aftermath of a catastrophic wave, entrepreneurs cook up creative ways to help.
There was no champagne on New Year's Eve at the Jericho, New York, offices of Integrated Direct Marketing, but there was a good deal of celebrating. Three of the marketing firm's 12 employees were working late on an e-mail campaign for a longtime client, a men's Catholic missionary group, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, which claims thousands of members in 71 countries. What made the client, and its mission, so relevant on this particular holiday is that the Oblates happened to have more than 400 volunteers already set up in offices in Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia, which had just days before been devastated by a deadly tsunami that, to date, has killed more than 150,000 people in coastal Asia.

In the days after the event, Integrated Direct's employees, led by account executive Anthony DeBetta, worked furiously to pull together an online fundraising drive for the Oblates, who were even better suited than volunteer groups like the Red Cross to help out. And though it was late on New Year's Eve, and DeBetta and his team had planned to leave the office hours before, their persistence paid off. The fundraising campaign--directed at 26,000 people who had already donated to the Oblates' cause--began raising more than $1,000 an hour for tsunami victims. Determining Keywords
Determining keywords is a critical step in web design. If your website and meta tags do not contain related keywords, web surfers will be unable to find your website when they conduct searches.

The formula is a little tricky - you will need to locate terms that are popular and relevant to your site. These terms may or may not be terms that *you* feel are relevant terms. The optimal terms in a site should be terms that a potential customer would use when searching for a website with your content. In order to achieve success your website should be optimized with terms and phrases that are descriptive, related to your content, and which receive a significant amount of searches. The caveat, of course, is that you want to find terms and phrases where there is little competition, so you quickly achieve high ranking in the important search engines.

Dumping Your Display? Think Again.
Monitors and motherboards are considered hazardous waste -- so before you throw out old equipment you'd better check the local laws.

Now that the economic picture has begun to brighten, companies are starting to replace legacy hardware with new PCs, monitors, printers, and other peripherals. What is Podcasting
What is Podcasting
Podcasting is quickly becoming a buzz word among the techie crowd. So what is podcasting, anyway? Podcasting is online audio content that is delivered via an RSS feed. Many people liken podcasting to radio on demand. However, in reality, podcasting gives far more options in terms of content and programming than radio does. In addition, with Podcasting, listeners can determine the time and the place, meaning they decide what programming they want to receive and when they want to listen to it.

Listeners can retain audio archives to listen to at their leisure. While blogs have turned many bloggers into journalists, podcasting has the potential to turn podcasters into radio personalities.

Symantec says Spam growth slowing at last
The volume of e-mail made up of spam has stabilized, according to figures from Symantec's (Profile, Products, Articles) Brightmail unit.

December's figures, culled from traffic traveling through its servers, showed that 67 percent of e-mail is now spam, identical to the previous month. That was after three months when spam volumes were stable at 66 percent.

This is still equivalent to tens of millions of messages per day, but the statistics will come as welcome relief after recent dire predictions that the phenomenon would soon account for nearly all e-mail sent.

Small Business Matchmaking Goes Online
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the HP Small Business Foundation, a non-profit subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard, Thursday announced the schedule for their 2005 Business Matchmaking events. These events, which take place at specified dates throughout the year in cities around the U.S., match small companies with government agencies and private sector corporations, including Fortune 500 companies. The small businesses then have a chance to meet the buyers one-on-one or via phone to negotiate for potential contracts.

In 2005 the SBA in partnership with HP will launch the Business Matchmaking Online Network, in which small business owners will be able to participate in the matchmaking process virtually, without having to travel to one of the regular Business Matchmaking events. Initially to be launched as a pilot program in Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver, Kansas City, and Tampa, the program is slated to be rolled out nationwide in September 2005.

Google AdSense Changes for Webmasters
Google
Google has just announced new features for Google Adsense, the most beneficial change is changes to the Channel tracking program. Google's new url channels mean that webmasters will be able to more effectively track what pages or ads are effective on a site.

URL Channels
Google introduced a whole new type of channel for accounts. URL channels allow webmasters to track the performance of individual pages, or groups of pages, without having to update your ad code. Simply click the 'Channel Management' link below the Settings' tab to get started.

By entering a full or partial URL, you'll immediately begin tracking the performance of your pages. You can enter a top-level domain name to track all of the pages on that domain, or you can enter a partial URL to track all of the pages below a certain directory. Entering a full URL will track the performance of that particular page.

For examples and instructions, please refer to the Channels section of AdSense Support

Yahoo!'s Overture Looks At Simpler Models to Court Advertisers
Overture, the grandmother of Pay Per Click might move away from competitive bidding and go to a flat rate model? Who would have thought that the pay per click model and bidding process would evolve that way that it has?

"We're focused on simplifying from several directions, and that's what it's going to take," he told an audience at the Kelsey Group's Interactive Local Media conference today. "We need to help marketers to think about their objectives, not on the keywords they're picking. Not whether they're bidding $0.14, but whether they're meeting their objectives. We're entertaining subscription models. It's going to take all of that."

GMail Security Hole
In an Interview with Nana NetLife Magazine, a hacker exposed security holes in Google's GMail.

So you've got a Gmail mail account? Or maybe you've just received an invitation? Well, we have some bad news for you: Your mail box is exposed.

A major security hole in Google's mail service, allows full access to user accounts, without the need of a password. "Everything could get publicly exposed – your received mails might be readable, as well as all of your sent mail, and furthermore – anyone could send and receive mail under your name", thus reveals Nir Goldshlagger, an Israeli hacker, on an exclusive interview with Nana NetLife Magazine. "Even more alarming", he explains, "is the fact that the hack itself is quite simple. All that is needed of the malicious hacker, beside knowledge of the specific technique, is quite basic computer knowledge, the victim's username – and that's it, he's inside".

When approached, Google admitted to the security flaw. Google also assured us that this matter is being resolved, and that "the company will go to any length to protect its users".

SurfSaver Saves Time and Prevents Clutter
I recently decided that it was time to move away from a paper laden office. Now you have to understand my habits, I find something interesting, I print it. When I have time I sort through my stacks of printed material and either dig deeper into items of interest or toss them. Hence my office is constantly in a state of disarray. The first thing I did was to download SurfSaver, a program that claims to save & search web pages instantly. I figured that I would store web pages of interest in SurfSaver rather than printing a copy. I didn't expect the added bonus of being able to search the documents. What I've found is that SurfSaver not only got rid of my huge stacks of paper but that I can now *find* what I'm looking for!

SurfSaver
imbeds itself right into Internet Explorer. You simply click a little icon to save the web page into a designated folder. You can index and describe the page to make it easier to find at a later date and time. The settings are customizable, allowing you to optionally save graphics and to determine the depth of links you want saved on each web page.

As I've been using the software the possibilities for expanding the initial intended use have gotten me to thinking. I can save online reviews, archive old versions of websites, capture hardcopies of sites copying content, and easily organize new resources for research projects. I've also decided that SurfSaver is perfect for students doing research, who have difficulty keeping track of bibliographical sources! Great software for getting organized, saving time and increase productivity!!!

Not All Business Owners Keep Slavish Hours
A study shows that the average small-business owner works 52 hours a week. But behind the averages is another story.

For most entrepreneurs, owning a small business means working longer hours than everybody else. The average small-business owner works 52 hours a week, according to a 2000 study by New York marketing firm Willard & Shullman. Meanwhile, May figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that the average American production employee puts in 34.2 hours.

Behind the averages is another story. Seventeen percent of the business owners in the Willard & Shullman study reported working fewer than 39 hours a week. That's close to the employees' average, and some entrepreneurs say they work quite a lot fewer than 39 hours.

Google Print
Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Since a lot of the world's information isn't yet online, we're helping to get it there. Google Print puts the content of books where you can find it most easily; right in Google search results. To use Google Print, just search on Google as you normally would. For example, do a search on a subject such as "Books about Ecuador Trekking," or search on a title like "Romeo and Juliet." Whenever a book contains content that matches your search terms, Google will show links to that book in your search results. Click on the book title and you'll see the page that contains your search terms, as well as other information about the book. You can also search for other topics within the book. Click "Buy this Book" and you'll go straight to a bookstore selling the book online.
Right now Google is just beta testing this program, so you may not see books in your results for every search. But you can expect to see more and more books popping up in your search results in the coming months
